WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT METAL CHOICES FOR YOUR ENGAGEMENT AND WEDDING RING / BAND?

Finding the right metal for an engagement ring is just as important as the diamond or gemstone it will hold. At Thenetjeweler, we make jewelry only from the finest metals, ensuring our customers with a lifetime of value.

SUPER WHITE GOLD

Super white gold combines pure gold with white metals other than nickel, such as palladium and silver, that give them a silvery color without the need for rhodium plating. It has the color of platinum and the durability of 18K white gold, providing an excellent backdrop for diamonds.

10K vs 14K gold is an alloy made up of pure gold and  parts other metals such as copper, zinc, silver or nickel. All of our 10K, 14K white gold rings are plated with rhodium for more brilliant and white luster.

PLATINUM

Platinum is a very popular choice for wedding and engagement rings. Platinum’s naturally white sheen will never fade or change color, and accentuates the sparkle and brilliance of a diamond. Platinum the best choice if you have the budget, and it will last you a lifetime as a symbol of everlasting love.

YELLOW GOLD

Yellow gold is the traditional choice for wedding and engagement rings.Yellow Gold has a warm yellow color in its purest form. Even when it is alloyed with other metals such as silver, nickel or palladium to make 14k or 18k Gold, it retains a yellowish color. The richness of the Gold color is directly affected by the percentage of Gold in its alloys: therefore, 18K Gold has a richer color than 14K Gold.

ROSE / PINK GOLD

Rose gold, also known as pink gold and red gold, is a pure gold and copper alloy. Like yellow gold, depending on what carat (14K or 18K) you choose, the color and hardness of the ring will differ. Rose gold jewelry is becoming more and more popular for wedding rings and other jewelry, as it gives a feminine touch of romance and glamour to your jewelry.

TUNGSTEN

Tungsten boasts the highest melting point of any pure metal, making it more resistant to fracturing than diamonds and is harder than steel. Due to its unique hardness, Tungsten requires more time, labor, and work in order to produce it at a high quality. At TheNetJeweler, all our Tungsten rings are made with nickel which delivers the best quality, making them durable and long-lasting.

  • 10K Gold. Very strong. Great for jewelry for those who work industrious jobs who need something that will hold up.

  • 14K Gold. Good, also strong gold with more gold than 10K.
14K is perfect for fine jewelry.

  • 18K Gold. Much more pure than 14K. 18K Gold  has good strength with a wonderful balance in purity, ideal for fine jewelry.

  • 22K Gold. This is the softest and most pure gold. 22K Gold isn’t preferable for diamonds and heavily studded jewelry.

  • 24K Gold. This is the purest gold, too soft for making jewelry.
